Patient's Comment

Eye Care Tips

  • Take A vitamin diet to make eyes brighter. (papaya, eggs, fish, milk, cilantro etc.,)
Wash eyes with cold water to get sparkling eyes.
  • Put potato slices on your eye to get rid off those dark circles.
  • Soak amla overnight in water and use this water the next morning to wash the eyes.
  • Soak cotton in Luke warm milk and cover eyes with it for 15 min.
  • To soothe tired eyes, dip cotton pads in chilled milk and place on closed eyes for 10 minutes. Now relax completely.
  • To completely relax the eyes and the surrounding muscles, close your eyes and think of something that is pleasant or soothing and at a distance. Now gently open your eyes and look into the distance. Next focus on an object at arm's length. Do this extremely relaxing exercise four or five times a day.
  • If your eye twitches, or your eyes are red and feeling itchy, massage your scalp with curd.
  • Soak 1 tsp. dry amla in one cup of water overnight. Next morning strain it through a muslin cloth and then add one extra cup of water. Splash your eyes with this solution each morning. This makes your eyes sparkle.
  • For Puffy Eyes: Grate a potato with its peel and apply on your closed eyelids for about 20 minutes and relax completely. You may even take a nap.
  • Wash your face before sleeping, and ensure that there is no make-up on your face before you sleep, because, make-up creams may spoil your face as it will be there for the whole night. It is better if no cream is applied. What I feel is, wash your face before sleeping and if at all you want to apply any cream, just apply night cream and none other than that.

Maintain Good Eye Sight & Eye Health on this World Sight Day

Good eyesight plays an important role in your life, so it's important to follow these basic steps to keep your eyes seeing clearly.
Visit Your Eye Doctor
You should visit your eye doctor for an eye exam -- if you are over age 40 -- at least once every couple of years to help maintain good eyesight. See your ophthalmologist if you experience eye infections or symptoms of disease like loss of or blurred vision, light flashes, eye pain, redness, itching, swelling, and irritation around the eye or eyelid.
Practice Eye Disease Prevention
Eye disease is the number one cause of blindness. Most diseases that cause blindness, like glaucoma and diabetes, can be treated or their progression slowed down with the proper diagnosis and management. While there is no cure for some eye conditions, there have been major medical advances for age-related macular degeneration, glaucoma, and cataracts. By visiting your eye doctor on a regular basis, you can catch any eye problems in their early stage when they are easier to treat.
Protect Your Eyes From the Sun
Constant exposure to the sun's ultraviolet light can damage your eyes. Too much exposure increases pigmentation in the eye, causing a discoloration known as "brown" or "sunshine" cataracts. Some eye diseases, such as macular degeneration, have also been linked to UV exposure.
Wear Protective Gear and Eyewear for Work and Sporting Events
Wearing safety glasses and protective goggles while playing sports or working with hazardous and airborne materials lowers your risk for eye injury, impaired vision, and complete loss of sight.

Take care of your eyes

Don’t rub your eyes and keep washing them with fresh water is the key to have healthy eye-sight. But when monsoon is here, you got to take some precautionary steps to take care of your eyes…

With the advent of the monsoon, the number of conjunctivitis cases also increases. Conjunctivitis is highly contagious. It spreads if a non-infected individual comes in contact with a person suffering from conjunctivitis or handles an object that has been touched by the patient. Wearing a pair of goggles helps as it stops the patient from rubbing his/her eyes.
Normally, conjunctivitis starts in one eye. By and large, it is bilateral. Anybody who has had conjunctivitis once develops immunity to it but only to that strain of infection. So there is always a possibility of re-infection. The most common symptoms are irritation, watering, discharge and redness; swelling of lids; sensitivity to light, red spots, swelling of glands. Ffever and common cold with throat pain are associated with certain subtypes of viral conjunctivitis. Sight is not usually affected unless an ulcer supervenes. Sometimes in viral conjunctivitis the patient may experience failing or blurred vision and develop intolerance to light.
Although conjunctivitis is not life-threatening, patients should not be allowed to attend school or office, as they may spread the infection. Self-medication should never be attempted. People should consult an eye specialist instead of buying off-the-counter medicine. The treatment includes use of antibiotics and eye drops prescribed by the doctor. Isolate personal belongings such as tissue, cosmetics, soap, towel, and pillow cover and use disposable tissue instead of handkerchief or towel to dab eyes. Do not rub eyes and wash your hands immediately if you do. Do not sleep on unaffected side
Our immune system helps in quick recovery. The infection lasts 3-5 days and antibiotic eye drops are given to relieve irritation. Unfortunately, steroid eye drops available off the counter are commonly used but this can easily lead to corneal ulcers and blindness and should never be used. Conjunctivitis is caused either by entero virus or adeno virus. While the adeno virus causes haemorrhagic conjunctivitis; the entero virus causes pharyngo conjuctival fever, which includes sore throat, fever and conjunctivitis.
